Food Systems Leadership


GIFSL is using interactive media to connect individuals from around the world.  Through technology such as video, discussion forums, and blogs we hope to reach new audiences and expand communication in personal and meaningful ways.

(English Version) GIFSL and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) held the second module of the Executive Leadership in Food Safety (ELFS) Series in Minnesota in June 2010. The goal of the ELFS program is to develop networks and leadership within the context of food safety within the Americas. The ELFS series is a dynamic program consisting of 4 one-week learning modules held throughout the Americas over a two year period.

Barbara Alessandrini, eLearning Specialist at IZS (Teramo, Italy), Lonnie King, Director of the National Center for Zoonotic, Vectorborne and Enteric Diseases at the CDC, Ana Marisa Cordero, Agricultural Health and Food Safety Specialist for IICA, and Katinka de Balough, Senior Officer for Veterinary Public Health at the FAO discuss why they are partnering with the Global Initiative for Food Systems Leadership.
